Pilates is a body conditioning system developed by Joseph Pilates to enhance flexibility, coordination, and strength. The exercises emphasize breath, core- conditioning, and body awareness in a total body workout. Core stability creates proper alignment to promote long, lean muscles. Pilates is a safe, highly effective method of neuro-muscular conditioning to strengthen and streamline the body. This course focuses on the essential principles and progresses through a series of fundamental exercises. These non-impact exercises are suitable for a broad spectrum of people with varying levels and abilities. Hours Credit: 1. No prerequisites. No previous dance experience necessary. May be repeated for credit once. Considered an activity course. Offered on a pass/fail basis only.
