This is an in-depth analysis of the causes, escalation, and resolution of political, resource, climate, and religious conflicts within and between communities, societies, groups, and states. The class will examine various explanations of conflicts by analyzing the poltical implications of climate change, environmental degradation, resource availability, corruption, colonial legacies, and religious strife. In what ways do the most vulnerable suffer in conflict? What interventions are necessary? We will also explore ways of conflict prevention, mitigation, and resolution to attain sustainable peace.
