A study of the short story and the novel with particular attention given to form and technique. Students will explore a variety of narrative types such as picaresque, epistolary, naturalistic, satiric, and experimental. Representative authors may include Voltaire, Austen, Twain, Joyce, García Márquez, and Walker. Credit hours: 4.
